Are you prepared for Autumn?

Sport has definitely shown signs of improvement over the last few days. Ricky Varley need no introduction to many and enjoyed a session from the wheely boat catching 7 rainbows to around 3lb.

As we prepare for busy Autumn and Winter sport we’ve been ramping up the stocking to keep you busy with hard fighting trout. We stocked with 220kg of rainbows on Monday 3/10/22 and our next stocking of fish is due on the morning of Friday 7/10/22, this will take our recent total to around 1100 rainbows stocked in just over the last 3 weeks.

With temperatures now generally much cooler anglers should expect fish to become very active, there are lots of daddy longlegs currently being blown onto the water and some fish are moving to them already.

For the last couple of weeks we have been running a fantastic discounted boat offer allowing you to hire one of our Coulam boats for just £5.00, we have decided to continue this offer for another week until and including Sunday 16/9/2022.

Recent tactics have been somewhat varied but mixing between dries fished at close range and lures in the top three feet has been the most consistent approach, a disturbance pattern such as a tequila booby on the surface has also fetched some results.

For daily updates you can call the fishing lodge on 01673 878453.

In terms of tactics it was pretty much of a muchness as is often the case at Toft, being a relatively shallow lake its possible to catch fish pretty close to or on the surface for most of the year and last week was no exception. Washing line tactics with a small Tequila FAB on the point and Red Head Diawl Bach’s on the droppers proved as ever deadly………

A real mixed bag of a week weather wise certainly hasn’t made it easy for us. As I write (22/6/22) it would appear that the hot weather has kept one or two of you away, perhaps jobs in the garden or a visit to The Lincolnshire Show have been high on the agenda – I must admit a sun lounger and some very cold cider do have a certain appeal attached to them…………
