The Nights are Pulling In!

After such a long summer its pleasing to see the weather finally turning a corner and hopefully the sign of better things to come in the Autumn and winter period up to Christmas and on into next year.

Its been no secret that the summer was a tricky one as an unprecedented amount of warm weather bombarded most of the UK and all things considered we feel that we’ve stood up ok to it.

Moving on into the coming months now is the time to make sure that you’re well prepared for what could promise to be a bumper back end. In the coming weeks you should expect to need nymphs and buzzers as well as dries and as we cool down even more some fry patterns should put in an appearance. We have recently had confirmation of Demon Shrimp being present in Toft and these offer a great opportunity for bank anglers to catch fish pretty close in. They’re also a substantial meal for trout which can feed very heavily on them and pile weight on very quickly indeed, this autumn is showing promise of excellent sport indeed.

As I write (26/9/22) weve just thi9s morning added another stocking of rainbows from Olsten trout and future stockings should take place regularly over the coming weeks, higher rod numbers will mean more stockings and better sport!

We’ve been busy topping up the shop too for the winter, we now have the brilliant Froghair fluorocarbon back in stock as well as some excellent deals on Airflo Velocity, Superflo Stillwater Taper and Superflo Elite fly lines:

Velocity was £24.99 Now Only £15.00

Superflo Stillwater was £69.99 Now only £40.00

In terms of tactics it was pretty much of a muchness as is often the case at Toft, being a relatively shallow lake its possible to catch fish pretty close to or on the surface for most of the year and last week was no exception. Washing line tactics with a small Tequila FAB on the point and Red Head Diawl Bach’s on the droppers proved as ever deadly………

A real mixed bag of a week weather wise certainly hasn’t made it easy for us. As I write (22/6/22) it would appear that the hot weather has kept one or two of you away, perhaps jobs in the garden or a visit to The Lincolnshire Show have been high on the agenda – I must admit a sun lounger and some very cold cider do have a certain appeal attached to them…………
