Fishing Report and News 27/6/22 – 03/7/22

76 rods caught 497 trout for a rod average of 6.53

It’s fair to say that last week was pretty good to say the least. The high temperatures of the previous week had made things a touch tricky but the wind turned, it got cooler and the fish followed suit and provided us with lovely sport and great numbers at a time of year when it really can ‘go either way’

In terms of tactics it was pretty much of a muchness as is often the case at Toft, being a relatively shallow lake its possible to catch fish pretty close to or on the surface for most of the year and last week was no exception. Washing line tactics with a small Tequila FAB on the point and Red Head Diawl Bach’s on the droppers proved as ever deadly, other hot patterns included Hares Ear, Damsel Nymph, Shuttlecock CDC, Daddy Longlegs, Shipmans and Crunchers. The more the years go on the firmer my belief that I could get through a full season with just 15-20 patterns and not feel that I’ve missed out.

For those with a preference for boat fishing we’ve launched a great special off to wet your appetite through the month of July

2x 2fish Tickets plus boat and motor hire, Total Price Only £54.00.

This represents a £15 saving on the normal price and really offers great value, the only stipulation is that this deal is available only for online booking – we will not accept phone calls or walk-ins for this special offer. You can book this deal online by visiting:

July Special Boat Deal

We’ve still plenty of places left for this years Toft Newton Classic which is being held on Sunday 30/10/22. After last years roaring success were hoping for a full house of 60 anglers this year -be quick to call and pay your entry fee of £50.00 (non refundable) to reserve your place at this great event – this years winner walks away with a fabuluos £1200 with other great cash prizes available too – fishing fees will be payable on the day. Please note that it is a fully barbless event as per last year and flies should be tied on factory barbless hooks – squeezed barbs are not accepted.

The Forecast looks good over the next few days and the nice breeze that we are currently experiencing seems to be here to stay for the time being – this should keep water temperatures stable and the fish should continue to feed. It looks set to be another good week.

See you soon folks!

81 rods caught 261 trout for a rod average of 3.19

A real mixed bag of a week weather wise certainly hasn’t made it easy for us. As I write (22/6/22) it would appear that the hot weather has kept one or two of you away, perhaps jobs in the garden or a visit to The Lincolnshire Show have been high on the agenda – I must admit a sun lounger and some very cold cider do have a certain appeal attached to them…………
