The last week made it in to our top 3 attendances of the season as anglers took advantage of the recent great fishing weather and enjoyed Toft during ‘primetime’.
In keeping with the general trend recently, imitative tactics reigned supreme again with a mixture of nymph and dry fly tactics accounting for probably 90% of the fish caught. Favourite patterns included both olive and black buzzers, crunchers, diawl bach, hares ear, shipmans, shuttlecocks and daddies. Its been great to see that our fish are really piling the weight on with the masses of natural food available, many anglers have reported catching several fine quality fish in the 3-4lb range with a couple of larger specimens approaching 6-7lb reported.
Sport from both boats and bank was good with the boats perhaps showing slightly higher averages as is sometimes the case – the ability to cover fish that are out of reach of the bank anglers offers a lot of options throughout the day.
Fishing conditions for the next few days are forecast to be good, perhaps a touch breezier at times and fish should continue to feed in the top few feet of water, thou its sometimes worth trying deeper on brighter days. We also added another stocking of fish from our friends at Olsten Trout on Friday 6/5/22 and our next stocking of fish is due early next week 9exact date to be confirmed).
We’ve received a few more entries for this years Toft classic to be held on Sunday 30/10/22 and if you’d like a shot at the £1200 first prize you need to book and pay your entry fee of £50.00 to secure your place.
