Latest Toft Update

Footfall has been a little slower around a week of wet weather, with the appearance of some warmer weather wed expect sport to continue right into the evenings. with this in mind and longer daylight hours we’ve lengthened our opening hours again and closing time has now been moved back to 9pm. The appearance of a few sedges which generally happens in larger quantities in June should make for some great evening dry fly action and perhaps now is a good time to book a casting lesson with us to help you hone those skills in putting your flies in front of rising fish.

As we’ve said previously Tofts fleet of Coulam boats and Minn Kota electric outboards coupled with some of the latest battery technology offer a great way to cover the water and get to the bits which bank anglers cant reach. The boats have been generally well subscribed of late and advanced booking is generally recommended to avoid disappointment, you can do this by visiting our booking link here.

In other news we’d like to keep you informed that the road from Normanby by Spital to Toft is to undergo some fairly substantial improvements and will be closed from Wednesday 2nd June until Thursday 17th June. We are still open as normal and anglers coming to Toft should be mindful of this and seek an alternative route (depending on which direction you’re coming from).

In terms of tactics it was pretty much of a muchness as is often the case at Toft, being a relatively shallow lake its possible to catch fish pretty close to or on the surface for most of the year and last week was no exception. Washing line tactics with a small Tequila FAB on the point and Red Head Diawl Bach’s on the droppers proved as ever deadly………

A real mixed bag of a week weather wise certainly hasn’t made it easy for us. As I write (22/6/22) it would appear that the hot weather has kept one or two of you away, perhaps jobs in the garden or a visit to The Lincolnshire Show have been high on the agenda – I must admit a sun lounger and some very cold cider do have a certain appeal attached to them…………
